Meet Eunice Tan

Eunice Tan is a Senior Creative Writing Major at Union University. She is a published author whose writing is cataloged in the Library of Congress and published in literary magazines. She has worked at Penguin Random House as an Editorial Intern and has been Editor-in-Chief of her university’s literary magazine. Currently, she is querying her first Young Adult novel to literary agents. She is proud to be Student Representative for the Southern Region of Sigma Tau Delta as well as President of her university’s chapter. Nothing can make her part from Asian dramas and bookish YouTube videos.

  1. I chose to become an English Major because I wanted to write more stories.
  2. My favorite part of being an English Major is  creating and partaking in the warm comfort of books.
  3. The last book I read was Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley.
  4. My favorite series is The Mysterious Benedict Society series by Trenton Lee Stewart.
  5. A book character I identify with is Lucy from The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis.
  6. The last book I bought was Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, and I have read it.
  7. My favorite book to movie adaptation is The Adventures of Tintin by Hergé.
  8. I’m more of a writer.
  9. My favorite style of writing is emotionally driven, tittering between literary lyrical and snarky contemporary.
  10. My go-to children’s book is The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.
  11. My favorite childhood memory is adventuring at Universal Studios Florida with my family.
  12. Growing up, I was sure I would be a teacher.
  13. My first job was as a Writing Center consultant at my university.
  14. My dream job is being a creative writing professor/consultant while writing my own Young Adult books.
  15. I like to spend my free time watching Asian dramas or reading at a cafe.

  19. If I was stranded on a desert island, the three things I would bring with me are a cafe, a bookstore, and my boyfriend.

  21. The best gift I ever received was an online writing seminar.
  22. The best gift I’ve ever given is a handwritten book of 365 original poems for my boyfriend on our one-year anniversary.
  23. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up noodle soup with eggs.
  24. If I could try any food from a book or series, it would be Balin’s Spiced Beef Roast from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
  25. The author (dead or alive) I’d most like to spend a day with is Mary Oliver.
