Meet Destiny Jones

Destiny Jones is the Student Representative for the Southwestern Region of Sigma Tau Delta. She is pursuing her BA in English with an emphasis in writing at Southern Arkansas University while serving as her chapter’s Vice President. In her spare time ,she likes to knit, read, and play video games.

I chose to become an English Major because I have always had a passion for reading and writing. Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to pursue a degree related to writing.
My favorite part of being an English Major is learning from people who are just as passionate as I am.
The last book I read was Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard.
My favorite series is The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.
A book character I identify with is Hagrid from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. As I read the book series, I found many similarities with the character.
The last book I bought was A Light in the Flame by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I have not read it yet.
My favorite book to movie adaptation is The Maze Runner by James Dashner.
I’m both a reader and a writer.
My favorite style of writing is narrative.
My go-to children’s book is the Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park.
My favorite childhood memory is days when my family would spend all day fishing. We would build a small fire and cook whatever we caught throughout the day. Most of the time, I would climb trees and play in the sand instead of fishing. At night, I would run around and catch fireflies.
Growing up, I was sure I would be an author.
My first job was working at my local library
My dream job is to be a developmental editor.
I like to spend my free time reading or playing games on my Nintendo Switch (My current game obsession is Subnautica.).

The literary place I’d most like to visit is Velaris.
If I could move anywhere in the world, I’d live in Colmar, France.
If I was stranded on a desert island, the three things I would bring with me are an ultimate survival guide, a machete, and as many books as I could possibly bring.
The one song I could listen to on repeat is “Hot” by Confetti.
The best gift I ever received was a One Piece box set with volumes 1-24, spanning through the East Blue and Baroque Works arcs.
The best gift I’ve ever given is helping to pay for a Nintendo Switch.
If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up some sort of pastry, most likely a strawberry danish.
If I could try any food from a book or series, it would be marmalade from Paddington by Michael Bond.
The author (dead or alive) I’d most like to spend a day with is Rick Riordan. I loved reading his books growing up; his writing is what made me really find a passion for reading.
