Scholarships are not the only way for students and chapters to get recognition and funding. Sigma Tau Delta has many awards for qualified student members, Faculty Sponsors, and chapter activities. The application process is often quick and easy, and winning brings attention and prestige (and, of course, money) to worthy members and chapters. Submissions for all of the following are due Monday, November 12.
Students
Student Leadership Award
The Student Leadership Award is presented to students for outstanding leadership at the chapter level. Sponsors may nominate one student per year by submitting a letter of nomination. Winners receive $250 and a plaque
Sponsors
Elaine W. Hughes Outstanding Sponsor Award
The Elaine W. Hughes Outstanding Sponsor Award and Outstanding Regional Sponsor Awards are presented to Faculty Sponsors who give generously of their time, talent, and creativity to their chapter and foster a spirit of scholarly exchange. Student members of a chapter may nominate one Faculty Sponsor by submitting a letter of nomination. The winner will receive $500 and a plaque. Sponsors not chosen for the Elaine W. Hughes Outstanding Sponsor Award will be automatically considered for an Outstanding Regional Sponsor Award, which comes with a commemorative plaque.
Chapters
Outstanding Chapter Award
The Outstanding Chapter Award is presented to the chapter that best exemplifies the mission of Sigma Tau Delta. Active chapters that exhibited outstanding motivation, creativity, and service last year may apply for the Outstanding Chapter Award by submitting a written narrative of chapter achievement, as well as supporting documents such as photos, news stories, and chapter publications. The winning chapter will receive $500 and a plaque, and may also receive $350 in travel assistance for sending at least one student member to the international convention and bringing a chapter exhibit.
