Welcome to the first post in our new Meet the Deltans series. Each week we will feature a different Sigma Tau Delta member. Follow us this summer to meet your Central Office staff and 2017-2018 Student Leaders.
Katie Mudd is the Director of Social Media Strategies for Sigma Tau Delta and NEHS. While pursuing her MA she was Vice President of her Sigma Tau Delta chapter at Eastern Kentucky University. Currently, she is working on a PhD in Medieval Romance and Film Theory at Northern Illinois University, where she eagerly researches beheading for her dissertation on Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte Darthur—the lack of rolling heads in the new King Arthur film was most disappointing! In her spare time she enjoys gardening and cooking, playing with her dog and cats, and traveling with her family.
- My favorite movie is Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope.
- I never leave the house without Tarteist Quick Dry Lip Paint in Exposed.
- If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be cheese (and bread, because you need a suitable receptacle for transporting the cheese to your mouth!).
- Growing up, I was sure I would be an equestrian.
- I know every word to the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.
- The best gift I’ve ever received was being chosen by my rescue dog Max.
- My nickname in high school was Kates.
- If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up something delicious from scratch.
- I’m more of a reader than a writer.
- The best paper title I ever created was “‘So he smote of hir hede’: Women and Beheading in Malory’s Le Morte Darthur.”
- The literary place I’d most like to visit is Camelot.
- My dream job is to be a zoologist.
- An author I truly admire is Diana Gabaldon.
- My go-to children’s book is Seuss’ Green Eggs and Ham (the book my father used when teaching me to read).
- The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Egypt.
- My favorite part of being an English Major is being surrounded by a group of like-minded people who get all my literary references!
- The last book I read was Nora Roberts’ Come Sundown (we’re all allowed our guilty pleasures!).
- My favorite book series is Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series (I’ve been a fan since long before the TV series).
- My favorite bookstore is Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington, KY.
- In 10 years, I’m betting that the English major will be stronger than ever.
- My first job was working weekends at a farm that brought petting zoos, pony rides, and hay rides to fairs and festivals.
- The last book I bought was the new paperback version of P.J.C. Field’s edition of Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte Darthur and I have begun reading it.
- It would necessitate the assistance of a necromancer, but the celebrity I’d most like to spend a day with is my namesake, Katharine Hepburn.
- If I could move anywhere in the world, I’d live in Venice, Italy.
- My Hogwarts House is Ravenclaw.
